I am experiencing a crash when I access the FSX menu. How do I fix this?
Article ID: 10
Revised: 6/24/2011

Summary:

While flying FSX in a Windows 7 or Vista Environment, the menu system can sometimes cause a crash-to-deskop (CTD) when the user accesses the FSX menu system during a flight.  A fix for this issue can be found below.

Information:

Download Required Files

Before applying the Menu CTD fix, you must make sure you have the latest file libraries for the following software updates (Reboot After Each Install)

1. Direct X -  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

2. C++ Library - http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB961894/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2067

You want to download and install:

ENU (vcredist_x86.exe) NOTE: Or the one which is right for your OS language   ENU= ENGLISH

DO NOT install the x64 version. Even with a 64bit OS the C++ library update you need is the 32bit (x86) version, because FSX is a 32bit application

3. Newer version of uiautomationcore.dll (Read How to apply the fix for installation of this file).
