Features include a photo realistic 2D panel, 3D aircraft model, exceptionally clear virtual cockpit, new sounds, and flight dynamics that have been developed using the real performance tables. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is one of the most popular general aviation aircraft ever created. Tracing its roots back to the original production lineage of the late 1950's, the 172 Skyhawk has undergone many changes. When the Cessna single engine facility re-emerged in July of 1996, the 172R Skyhawk was reborn. New features included a fuel injected Textron Lycoming IO-360-L2A engine with dual engine driven vacuum pumps, epoxy corrosion proofing, stainless steel control cables, thicker windows and new acoustic soundproofing. Cessna claims the 172R is significantly quieter than the O-320 it replaced, and it can produce its maximum power at just 2400rpm.

The configuration manager also includes two selectable flight dynamics models and a wheel pants off/on model. Text-o-Matic for Repaints - Flight One's proprietary Text-o-Matic aircraft repainting utility allows you to download additional user created paint schemes and install them on your system with just a couple mouse-clicks. Two versions are listed below, and they work with the same key. So if you get the FS9 version, you can download the FSX version and install it with the key you received when you purchased the FSX version (use the 'Click Here to Reinstall Button). The same also works in reverse. If you get the FSX version first, you can use that same key to download and install the FS9 version. So it is safe to download either because both work with the same key. A note to customers for the FSX version: The Text-o-Matic tool is not included in the download. This tool is used to apply custom repaints to the aircraft. Currently, the FSX version of Text-o-Matic is beeing worked on, and should be released shortly at the official Text-o-Matic download page. Flight1 has included a special tutorial flight with recorded sounds that will help teach you how to flight the 172. The flight will watch your performance, and make sure you stay within the "instructor's" limits.
Windows XP Recommended - Although the Skyhawk 172R may operate under Windows 98 or Me, Flight One can't make any guarantees that you will not encounter problems when using the software with Windows 98 or Me. Flight1 highly recommends Windows XP as it is a true 32-bit operating system, and does not suffer from certain memory limitations of Windows 98 or Me. |
